Senior Accountant

Job Responsibilities Ensure fixed assets are recorded, recognized, re-valued, depreciated, capitalized, and disposed of in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as an off-Balance Sheet item. Maintain Fixed Asset Register and ensure all records are genuine, accurate, and supported by documentation before entry into the accounting software. Organize and maintain the General Ledger (GL) and oversee treasury activities. Coach, supervise, and train new Accountants joining the Finance Department. Review financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. Ensure timely input of all received invoices into the system. Authorize payments following policies and procedures. Assist in implementing Accounts Payable best practices and recommend improvements. Use JDE for recording, reconciling, and reporting to financial controllers and managers, supporting the AP team. Manage the transfer and reconciliation of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions to the GL. Lead review processes to ensure accurate processing of transactions into the correct accounts. Supervise analysis and adjustments of prepaid and accrual accounts. Manage intercompany accounts and prepare journal entries as needed. Review withholding tax reports and ensure timely payments. Oversee the review of the trial balance, ensuring expenses are properly recorded and adjusted. Liaise with other departments for timely transaction processing and GL closing. Ensure accurate preparation and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. Follow up on reconciling items and prepare necessary adjustments. Participate in the monthly GL close and assist the budgeting team. Liaise with treasury to ensure accurate posting of transactions. Adhere to standards, policies, and procedures. Attend meetings and analytical sessions as required. Assist the AP section head and financial controllers as needed. Manage financial activities related to capital assets, monitor expenditures, and ensure proper accounting per GAAP/IFRS. Review asset acquisition documentation and update records accordingly. Maintain records of all asset transactions, including disposals and transfers. Supervise asset depreciation and amortization expenses. Ensure subsidiary ledger balances with the GL and prepare monthly asset schedules. Oversee materials cataloguing, ensuring standardization and quality. Identify training needs and develop training plans for staff. Review assets periodically with departments and ensure accurate record-keeping. Participate in physical inventory counts and impairment reviews. Recommend improvements to processes and systems for managing capital assets. Utilize JDE efficiently for transaction review and report generation. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CA, CMA are preferred. Minimum of 6-8 years of relevant experience with recognized firms. Working knowledge of JDE-ERP system. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis. Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software. Deep understanding of financial statements, analysis, budgeting, fixed assets, depreciation, and leasing.
