About Us: Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI) is a leading research institute dedicated to improving health outcomes through innovative research in biomedical sciences. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Scientific Director to lead our Neurological Disorder Research Centre. NDRC Center Goal: Discover and develop strategies for early diagnosis and therapeutic interventions for neurological disorders with emphasis on autism in Qatar and beyond. Center Objectives: Identify and validate genetic, environmental, and molecular risk factors underlying neurological disorders. Innovate molecular diagnostics for intervention in autism and other neurological disorders. Develop precision health strategies for treatment of autism and other neurological disorders. Develop screening tools using digital phenotyping and artificial intelligence for early diagnosis of autism. Position Overview: As the Scientific Director, you will provide overall leadership in research project management, infrastructure development, strategic planning, and scientific investigation in the field of neurological disorders.You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of neurological research at QBRI, driving innovation, and ensuring the highest standards of scientific excellence. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement a 5-year and 10-year Master Plan for neurological disorder research. Lead the preparation and execution of the annual budget and business plan. Oversee the development of infrastructure and laboratory facilities. Lead a team of scientists and researchers to develop new methods and solutions in neurological disorder research. Collaborate with HBKU entities and external partners to secure resources and funding. Ensure compliance with research protocols, safety, and regulatory standards. Foster collaborative relationships with national and international research institutions. Identify, recruit, and motivate a team of scientists to achieve QBRI's vision and mission. Actively participate in basic and applied research to meet the Centre's objectives. Seek and secure external funding to complement HBKU resources. Prepare progress reports and recommend improvements to enhance research performance. Qualifications: Ph D in Biomedical/Life Sciences or a related field. 15 years of relevant full-time work experience, with at least 5 years in a senior research leadership position. Strong knowledge of clinical, medical, and biomedical research focusing on neurological disorders. Proven track record in managing research centres and familiarity with research tools, procedures, and protocols. Strategic thinker with project management experience and the ability to manage budgets. Strong leadership, people management, and team-building skills. Ability to thrive in a diverse, multi-cultural environment. Experience in raising funds for research programs. Superior knowledge of biomedical trends, FDA regulations, and international standards for biomedical devices and drug development.
