Wood is currently hiring for the Lead Technical Safety Engineerrole in Qatar. Responsibilities Provide integrity assurance of process designs through application of Shell technical standards and specifications, implementation of DCAF, and review of design deliverables and activities. Ensure schedule and cost considerations are integrated into design decisions, maintaining primary responsibility for safe and quality designs. Deliver projects with HSSE & SP risks managed to ALARP, creating a workplace without harm. Align Technical HSE Engineering activities with Shell's Project Delivery Roadmap and Opportunity Realization Process. Validate strategies and conceptual designs during early project phases. Support company audits of construction activities for compliance and resolve non-conformance issues. Ensure designs meet Shell's HSSE Framework requirements. Develop innovative technical approaches to broader Technical HSE issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Provide HSE risk management support across the project lifecycle, including hazard identification, major hazard assessments, HSE Cases, and other analyses. Communicate HSSE best practices. Offer technical HSE engineering support and ensure compliance with standards and regulations for QPH projects. Take accountability for technical HSE deliverables and engineering planning, providing senior expertise. Work proactively with the Engineering Manager to keep projects on track and achieve top performance. Enhance efficiency in project design through elimination, simplification, standardization, and automation, ensuring high-quality designs for Qatar projects. Qualifications BSc. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university. Technical Skills Minimum 15 years' experience in Brown Field Oil and Gas HSE Design and Engineering, with at least 5 years in project delivery under an umbrella contract. Experience leading a multidisciplinary Technical HSE engineering team. Proficient as a professional Technical HSE engineer from front-end development through execution, commissioning, and start-up. Skilled in quantitative risk software such as PHAST and FRED. Experience with Shell projects is a plus. Excellent communication and technical report writing skills. Knowledge of the Middle East market, GTL, Gas Processing, Utilities, and experience with frontend and commissioning is advantageous. Proven leadership and personal drive to meet deadlines and targets. Experience as HAZID/HAZOP Secretary is required.
