Land Surveyor
Description
Prepares and maintains sketches maps reports and legal descriptions of surveys in order to describe certify and assume liability for work performed Verifies the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites Directs or conducts surveys in order to establish legal boundaries for properties based on legal deeds and titles Records the results of surveys including the shape contour location elevation and dimensions of land or land features Calculates heights depths relative positions property lines and other characteristics of terrain Prepares or supervises preparation of all data charts plots maps records and documents related to surveys Writes descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds leases or other legal documents Plans and conducts ground surveys designed to establish baselines elevations and other geodetic measurements Searches legal records survey records and land titles in order to obtain information about property boundaries in areas to be surveyed Coordinates findings with the work of engineering and architectural personnel clients and others concerned with projects Adjusts surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy Establishes fixed points for use in making maps using geodetic and engineering instruments Determines longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas using the odolites transits levels and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS)Trains assistants and helpers and direct their work in such activities as performing surveys or drafting maps Analyses survey objectives and specifications in order to prepare survey proposals or to direct others in survey proposal preparation Computes geodetic measurements and interpret survey data in order to determine positions shapes and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features Develops criteria for survey methods and procedures Develops criteria for the design and modification of survey instruments Conducts research in surveying and mapping methods using knowledge of techniques of photogrammetric map compilation and electronic data processing Locates and mark sites selected for geophysical prospecting activities such as efforts to locate petroleum or other mineral products Surveys bodies of water in order to determine navigable channels and to secure data for construction of breakwaters piers and other marine structures Directs aerial surveys of specified geographical areas Performs other duties assigned by immediate superior as & when required Requirements Proficiency in Total Station and GPS (GNSS) operation Skilled in using Auto Level and Theodolite Experience in topographic boundary and as-built surveys Ability to read and interpret engineering and structural drawings Proficient in Auto CAD Civil 3D and other drafting software Minimum 5 years experience in a similar position in Roads and Infrastructure projects Ability to perform in a high-pressure environment Strong English communication Skills Attention to details Open-minded and mature Sound judgment and pro-active attitude Auto CAD software usage, design knowledge in road, infrastructure, utilities & pipeline projects #J-18808-Ljbffr
