The Quality Assurance Analyst / Editor verifies accuracy; reviews contents in terms of presentation and formats, and sets guidelines acceptable to transcription standards; and revises transcribed medical reports from dictations, chart notes, histories, patient records, etc. by physicians and other healthcare providers in order to document patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Regularly reviews and verifies the accuracy of the transcribed reports by the Scribes against actual dictation, charts, infosheet history, previous report or a combination of any of these items against actual dictation applying specific standards provided by current resources and references.
2. Uses standard quality scoring criteria to calculate and score reports consistently and fairly based on varying degrees of errors.
3. Edits reports accurately and timely after completed quality reviews. Eliminates discrepancies. Change words or paraphrase sentences to ensure consistency in tense, format and content.
4. Provides timely and consistent feedback to the scribes in order to eliminate repetition of errors and build skills.
5. Remains up-to-date with new medical terminology and industry standards in order to act as a resource to the scribes assisting with clarifying dictation, researching questions, and educating staff as required.
6. Continually develops understanding of multiple computer applications and document management programs in order to effectively contribute and adapt to the changing healthcare environment.
Work Experience
• Graduate of Medical Allied Course
• At least 2-3 years' experience as QA in a BPO setting
• With multiple speaker transcription background
• Experience in navigating Electronic Health Records is a plus.
• Attentive to detail
• Must have great customer service skills and the patience to deal with difficult situations.
