He/She is responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and support of the company’s SAP landscape, including all instances and clients supporting ECC, Business Objects, and any other SAP applications. Furthermore, he/she will be responsible for ensuring users have the correct access and authorizations, and that our IT Infrastructure Team and 3rd party hosting partners are providing a secured operating environment (physical and logical).



Essential Duties:

Performs daily SAP monitoring, troubleshooting and correction of the SAP environment; including interactive, batch and print sub-systems, so that SAP applications are available and performing at acceptable levels.

Ensures steps are taken in a timely manner to ensure SAP database is healthy and properly tuned for maximum performance.

Ensures appropriate and timely steps are taken to maintain instances and clients in accordance with best practices including refreshes, client copies, identifying and applying SAP OSS notes, support packs, and enhancement packs.

Ensures SAP security is monitored and managed, that steps are taken to ensure users have the right access and authorizations, that segregation of duties (SoD) are followed, and that proactive steps are taken to identify violations and security risks, up to and including add, change, deletion of security profiles, roles and transactions.

Provides support and maintenance of the SAP LDAP and SSO configurations.

Manages system level printers and peripherals.

Installs SAP proprietary or other add-on software.

Daily Operations

To ensure that SAP system is up and running

Check DB/OS/SAP system logs

Evaluate backup operation results

Check database operations

Check background job status and work process status

Check Dump status

Verify user operations, lock table and failed updates

Identify SAP performance and usage issues

Check CPU and memory usage, and response time

Archive directory status validation

Check free space in database

Weekly Operations

Clean up transport buffers and spool

Check spool requests

Run check for TemSe consistency

Analyzing Early Watch report

Review and validate security audit log

Monitoring tablespace growth, free space and DB growth

Evaluate database consistency

Monthly Operations

Cleaning old logs

Defragmenting storage memory

Checking and evaluating directory structure

Monitoring growth of the database

Yearly Tasks

Archiving backups at the end of the year

User security controls

Checking locked transactions

Archiving old transport files

Checking standard scheduled jobs

Evaluating SAP profile parameters

Checking locked transactions

Performing backup and restore tests

Maintaining database parameter files

Checking user IDs and DDIC

Evaluating licensing issues for DB/OS/HW/SAP

Checking and managing clients in test, QA, and development systems

Check profile parameters in SAP

Technical upgrades

Checking workbench organizer settings

Server migration

Updating kernel and applying database patches
