Responsibilities:


  • Advise the Head of School and Director, External Engagement, of industry engagement progress in support of institutional priorities.  
  • In consultation with the Head of School and Director, External Engagement, initiate and plan innovative industry engagement programs that seek to attract and engage both new and current industry partners in support of institutional priorities.  
  • Locate, develop, define, negotiate and close business relationships in consultation with the head of school and Director, External Engagement.  
  • Work to establish and consolidate strategic alliances with industry and the private sector.  
  • Initiate, lead and program the school's approach to commercialisation through the development of high-level relationships with industry, alumni and the ;
  • Work seamlessly with the Employer Engagement Office to develop industry-driven opportunities for students, including, but not limited to, internships and career placement opportunities.  
  • Work with the Heads of Schools and leadership of the campus to secure sponsorship for strategic initiatives.  
  • Promote research and education projects to potential partners or sponsors.  
  • Manage negotiations with engagement partners, ensuring the contract agreements meet the approval of the campus solicitor and are fully compliant with university policies, procedures and audit requirements.  
  • Provide advice and guidance in the resolution of legal and commercial disputes. Strategic support for Schools  
  • Support the Heads of School in delivering outcomes for Industry Advisory Panels (IAP).  
  • In consultation with the Head of School, develop an annual budget for industry initiatives at the school level and ensure that financial matters are managed responsibly, ethically and transparently.  
  • Formulate regular reports for schools that analyse their strategies and outcomes of external engagement.  
  • Identify and facilitate introductions and advise academics, where necessary, on maintaining business connections.  
  • Provide high level advice to academics on best practice to build a culture of commercialisation.  
  • Develop new partnerships and maintain links with industry in order to proactively identify opportunities for enhanced student learning experience, research funding, technology transfer, and commercialisation.  
  • Work seamlessly with schools and External Engagement to maintain the central relationship management database.  
  • Improve the provision of market intelligence to internal stakeholders through professional reporting.  
  • Provide high levels of engagement, participation and commitment for change and development programs initiated by the leadership of the campus.  
  • Act as a point of contact and advice for researchers seeking industry and government partners. Develop alumni relationships to support industry engagement priorities 
  • Support effective and successful relationships with the alumni  
  • Exercise a superior level of leadership in managing a series of high-level relationships for the school and campus.  
  • Support the respective alumni networks/chapters of schools to ensure a sustained suite of alumni engagement activities with the school and campus.  
  • With the Head of School, nurture prominent alumni relationships where appropriate.     

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor degree, preferably in marketing, business, public policy, communications or a related area (such as public relations, international relations or education management) from a recognised ;
  • At least 10 years working experience, with 5 years in a managerial capacity.  
  • Demonstrated success in business development, commercialisation, and relationship management.  
  • Substantial knowledge of and experience with current relationship management strategies and ;
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have worked in a university in a similar role, either from an academic or professional background.  
  • Relevant qualifications, along with superior management skills and experience in the higher education sector;  
  • Sound knowledge of engagement with industry and a demonstrated understanding of the broader and current issues affecting the higher education industry as they impact on the same;  
  • Demonstrated superior level of strategic analysis, planning and advisory skills;  
  • Ability to develop, review and maintain business processes and to ensure compliance by staff with the same;  
  • Proven ability to motivate, lead and develop people in a complex environment;  
  • Superior interpersonal and written and oral communication skills, including the ability to liaise and influence at all levels and to deal with external parties as the representative of the University;  
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare action plans, discussion papers, review reports and other documents on marketing and promotional related initiatives including those developed by the Executive;  
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and ensure timely delivery of projects and services; 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects ;
  • Excellent command of the English language and demonstrated IT skills.  
  • Travel may be required.  
  • Occasional work during weekends and after working hours may be required.  
  • Possess a valid driving license.
