The Malden Centre is looking to appoint two summer interns/artists in residence. In exchange for one-day a week's work, the chosen artists/designers/makers will receive use of our well equipped ceramic studio for the duration of their position at the centre as well as professional guidance from Head of Pottery, James Duck RCA.

The newly appointed staff member will have access to the Pottery studio anytime that the centre is open: Monday-Friday :00pm, Saturday and Sunday :30pm. Throughout the summer there will be two taught sessions a week where by the studio is in use: Thursdays, 12:30-3:30 and Tuesdays, 7:00pm-9:30pm; all communal areas must be clear of tools and work during these times.

As well as access to the studio you'll receive a full membership at the Malden Centre, giving you access to the gym and swimming ;


Please note the following:

This is an unpaid position; in exchange for work you'll receive use of the studio. You will be added to payroll and should paid work be available it will be offered - although this is not guaranteed.

There's no material allowance, all materials will either need to be brought by the intern/AIR or purchased through the Malden ;


At the end of the residency one piece is to be donated to the Malden Centre's collection.

Start Date: 24th July 2017


Finish Date: 10th September 2017

 


Role/Responsibilities

During the one day (8 hours excluding breaks) each week that you'll be working for the Malden Centre your responsibilities will include glaze development, kiln packing/unpacking/firing, studio re-organisation, cleaning equipment and any other reasonable task that is asked of you.

The time/day that you're to work can be negotiated.
