The Company:
A long established construction and contracting company head officed in Abu Dhabi but role is in Dubai.
The Role:
Responsible for the Commercial Function on a small number of projects to protect and enhance the Company's position. Identify, monitor and mitigate risk. Identify and maximize opportunity.
Major Responsibilities:
• Provide guidance and support on all commercial issues related to the projects.
• Manage and direct the Commercial Staff on the projects, in their day to day duties and monthly deliverables.
• Take the lead with the preparation of Subcontracts, negotiate and agree terms.
• Provide Contractual and Commercial advice to the project management team on all Contractual and Commercial issues.
• Take the lead in Contract Administration of major issues on projects.
• Take the lead in the preparation and submission of claims.
• Take the Commercial lead in the negotiations and dealings with the Employer and his representatives on commercial issues VO's/claims etc.
• Provide guidance and training to subordinate commercial staff.
• Provide assistance and support to Contract Manager as required.
• Any other reasonable duties as required.
• Shall be familiar with all HSE Procedures relating to the work being carried out under their supervision, and ensure that the work place is maintained in a safe condition and also carryout regular inspections.
• Aware of Quality Systems and safe design practice. Adherence to, working instructions and procedures in accordance with the Company's Quality Assurance policy.
Qualifications and Desired Skills:
• Ideally will be a graduate with a degree in Quantity Surveying. However, candidates that can demonstrate solid capability at this level with some other form of relevant qualification will be considered.
• Minimum 7 years working for a contractor holding a senior Project QS or similar position with good exposure to complex commercial issues. Demonstrate ability to lead commercial teams and project management on commercial issues
• Must have good command of written and spoken English.
• Be able to communicate up stream as well as downstream.
• Be able to deal with Clients and Clients representatives.
• Ability and drive to work under own incentive although equally adept at taking instruction when required to do so.
• Ability to prioritize work and deliver on time.
