Minimum Requirements: 3 years Qualified Experience
Description:
1. Mechanical maintenance and repairs to all trucks, vehicles, compressors and mechanical plant equipment
2. Safety
Duties
1. Ensure that all drivers and operators check their machines or vehicles on a daily basis
2. Ensure that the check lists are up to date and signed
3. Check that the vehicles are greased on the appropriate time
Servicing
1. Servicing of vehicles, machines, compressors or other mechanical devices
2. Co-operate closely with the admin section and the workshop manager, to ensure that the service schedules are met
3. Ensure that he makes a thorough inspection of the vehicle while servicing and document all faults on the job card and inform the workshop manager
Safety
1. Safety checks include but are not limited to the following:
• Tyres
• Pre start check list
• Fire extinguisher
• License validity
• Hooking and unhooking of trailers
2. The safety in and around the workshop is the responsibility of the mechanic
3. The cleanliness of the workshop and surrounding area is the responsibility of the mechanic
4. Safety checks to be done daily
Special Duties
1. Any breakdowns on the plant will also be attended by the Mechanic when called to do so by the operational manager
2. Assist in the maintenance of the plant and related equipment
3. Available for breakdowns on any vehicle operated by Afrigrit (Standby)
Body Repairs
1. Knowledge and experience in body repair will be an advantage
