Summary: Primary duty of the Marketing & Communications Assistant is to support the

Museum's Marketing Department, to help ensure timely, effective, and efficient

marketing & communications to the Museum's constituents, and Museum cohesiveness

in communications and branding across materials and efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be

assigned to meet business needs.

 Update website daily

 Manage press and marketing material archives

 Manage press contact list

 Work closely with the Marketing Manager to manage the Museum's social

networking activities

 Work closely with the Membership/Group Sales Department in communications

to members and groups including: assembly of information packs, printing &

mailing of membership cards, printing and mailing of membership renewal letters.

 Input membership and group sales data into Museum Database (Raiser's Edge)

 Handle donation requests from outside sources for the Museum

 Create select marketing/communications materials monthly program

calendar, in-house signage, coupons, flyers, etc.

 Assist with Special Event and Press Coordination

 Assist with outreach activities and programs (including some night and weekend

events)

 Assist with mass mailings

 Assist with market research and other tasks as needed

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 Well organized, detail oriented, creative, and self-motivated

 Excellent interpersonal skills required

 Professional style, commitment to the organization, strong oral and written

communication skills; must be able to effectively interact with a wide variety of

people; able to prioritize projects and manage a heavy workload

 Strong computer skills working in Microsoft Word, Outlook; Excel; Working

knowledge of Raiser's Edge a plus; experience working with Microsoft Office

Publisher and Photoshop a plus

 Experience in web design and applications, with basic knowledge of HTML

 Experience with email marketing tools

 Knowledge of social media marketing

 Ability to work occasional nights & weekends on special events

 Bachelor's degree in marketing or communications, or 3 years related experience

in marketing, public relations or advertising, or equivalent combination of

education and experience

 Strong attention to detail and follow-thru on assigned tasks

 Interact closely as a team player

 Multiple language abilities appreciated
