Job details
You will build a chat-based (websockets) e-commerce platform. RESTful APIs + SPA.
Minimum requirements
- at least 2 years of solid (and recent!) Python and Django experience (you know the good parts and the bad parts of Django, as well as good 3rd-party libraries to use)
- at least 2 years of solid GNU/Linux / *nix experience (in an emergency, you know what commands to run to salvage your machine)
- knows how the Internet works (no kidding!)
- strong Git knowledge (you know the commands and not just "I know how to commit")
- strong OOP knowledge (you have a deep understanding of OO and more than "I know how to write classes!")
- strong MVC knowledge (you know more than what the letters stand for, and know what the responsibilities of each are)
- STRONG UNDERSTANDING of REST and RESTful web services (you know more than the acronym)
- strong data modeling and SQL and RDBMS background (PostgreSQL or MySQL) (you know how to structure data and use the RDBMS effectively and not just "I know how to create a table!")
- experience with agile development practices (you know more than scrum)
- STRONG COMMUNICATION SKILLS (you speak outside of the daily standups)
- AMBITION (you know what you're doing with your career and your life has more meaning than figuring out what to post next on Facebook)
Plus points
- experience with Websockets is a major plus
- experience with DRF is a major plus
- experience with task automation tools (fabric, gulp, grunt, etc.)
- experience with Ruby, Puppet, Chef or any other config management is a plus
- some experience with Python metaprogramming will be awesome
- experience with deploying in Linux containers
- experience with integrating Payment Gateways
- experience with integrating Shipping Services
- some knowledge and experience with content distribution and HTTP accelerators
- some frontend knowledge (CSS, ECMA script, responsive web design, AngularJS, ReactJS, single-page apps)
