Executive Managing Director/CEO ENGIE’s Business Unit for the Asia Middle East and Africa (AMEA) region is headquartered in Dubai. The region has activities in large scale power generation, water desalination, district cooling, energy solutions and renewables including green hydrogen, wind and solar. We act throughout the value chain: strategy, design, engineering, energy-efficient asset construction, digital platforms, operations management, financing syndication and outcome assurance. About the Project This is a greenfield OCGT project to be constructed with a net power capacity of 1440 MW, located inland at a site 160 km southwest of Abu Dhabi. Purpose of the Job The EMD will be responsible for: Managing the Company including personnel recruitment, procedures and facilities in agreement with the Board of Directors and the long-term business plan. Representing the Company and conducting relationships with authorities, regulatory agencies, lenders, banks and professional organizations. Following up on the proper execution of commercial and financial contracts and resolving issues in coordination with the Board of Directors. Managing EPC contractor related topics. Ensuring necessary permits and consents are obtained and maintained. Keeping the Company informed of applicable legal and regulatory changes. Promoting a safe and environmentally friendly company culture. Being responsible for the P&L of the entity. Managing budgets and business plans. Reviewing plan status and risks, developing mitigation plans, and seeking Board approval. Envisioning, seeking approval, and implementing long-term business/operating plans for the plant. Reporting line The EMD reports to the Board of Directors and interacts with shareholders to leverage their experience and resources. As an Engie Secondee, reports to Asset manager GCC, with dotted line reporting during construction to the Head of Project GCC. Key Accountabilities Managing high-level stakeholder relationships, including shareholders, authorities, banks, and clients. Ensuring adherence to good engineering and construction practices during project execution. Preparing and monitoring medium and long-term budgets. Fostering good industrial relations and community engagement. Ensuring safety and emergency preparedness. Managing insurance and claims procedures. Setting objectives, evaluating personnel, and managing compensation policies. Reporting on company health to the Board and shareholders. Driving operational excellence and cultural change. Submitting annual operating budgets for approval and ensuring budget adherence. Managing human resources and resolving disputes. Ensuring compliance with lender covenants and refinancing requirements. Implementing the Ethic Charter and governance standards. Health, Safety and Environment Implementing effective HSE strategies in compliance with legislation and ENGIE standards. Allocating resources for HSE management and supervision. Promoting a safety culture aligned with ENGIE’s principles. Supporting project team HSE responsibilities. Participating in HSE performance reviews. Enforcing HSE policies across the project. Demonstrating leadership in safety. Key relationships Internal: Company Directors, shareholder representatives, staff. External: EPC and O&M contractors, owner’s engineers, insurers, advisors, government entities, banks, OEMs. Qualifications University degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, MBA or similar. Experience 15+ years in senior roles in power/energy sector with 3-5 years in a similar position. Language Excellent command of English. Knowledge and Skills Strong interpersonal, negotiation, leadership, technical, and financial skills. Ability to work independently and in international teams. Experience with cultural change. Location/Travel Based in GCC with regional travel flexibility.
