Procurement Officer- Civil
Description
The Procurement officer is responsible for ensuring the correct materials are procured, inspected, and received during delivery to project sites. This role involves collaborating with suppliers, quality teams, and site personnel to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and timelines. Responsibilities: 1. Material Procurement and Supplier Management • Collaborate with Project Teams: Understand material requirements and specifications in detail to ensure accurate procurement. • Evaluate Suppliers: Assess potential suppliers to ensure they meet the project's quality standards, cost expectations, and delivery timelines. • Cross-Check Purchase Orders (POs): Ensure that purchase orders align with material requirements, delivery schedules, and specifications to avoid discrepancies. 2. Inspection and Quality Assurance • On-Site Inspection: Inspect delivered materials at the project site to verify that they meet the required specifications, quality, and quantity. • Testing and Verification: Conduct or coordinate testing and verification when necessary to ensure material compliance with standards and specifications. • Report Issues: Promptly communicate any discrepancies, damage, or non-compliance to the relevant project stakeholders for resolution. 3. Supplier Coordination and Communication • Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to manage and resolve issues related to material supply. • Liaison with Site Teams: Work closely with vendors and site teams to address and resolve delivery challenges, ensuring smooth operations. • Provide Feedback: Offer constructive feedback to suppliers on their performance and the quality of materials supplied, aiming to foster improvements. 4. Documentation and Compliance • Record Keeping: Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of material deliveries, inspections, and approvals for project accountability. • Compliance Management: Ensure all procurement processes and material deliveries comply with company policies, project specifications, and relevant industry standards. • Reporting: Prepare and deliver regular status reports to project management, highlighting procurement and quality assurance progress. 5. Continuous Improvement • Cost Savings and Optimization: Continuously evaluate opportunities for cost reduction, process optimization, and supplier performance improvement. • Stay Current: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging materials, and procurement best practices to contribute to the success of future projects. Qualifications and Skills: • Education: Bachelor’s degree (related field) or Supply Chain Management. • Experience: 6-10 years of experience in procurement, or a similar role in the construction/engineering industry. Technical Skills: • Knowledge of procurement processes, materials testing, and quality assurance practices. • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite. #J-18808-Ljbffr
