Social Worker

School social workers are trained mental health professionals who can assist with mental health concerns, behavioral concerns, positive behavioral support, academic and classroom support, consultation with teachers, parents, and administrators, as well as providing individual and group counseling/therapy. Their responsibilities include: Meeting with students for crisis intervention. Developing and teaching intervention strategies to help students achieve academic goals. Helping students learn strong social skills, as well as strategies for conflict resolution and anger management. Working with family members and other individuals in a child's living situation to support their adjustment, learning, and development. Providing consultation and training to administrators and school personnel related to the whole child, including behavior and classroom management, mental health, child abuse, neglect, and other crises.
