JOB PURPOSE A draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for furniture products based on design concepts, technical specifications, and manufacturing standards. This role bridges the gap between creative design and production, ensuring that all technical drawings are accurate, practical, and ready for fabrication. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/ TRAINING/ TECHNICAL SKILLS Qualifications and Education: Diploma or Degree in Drafting, Engineering, Architecture, or related field. 3+ years of experience in a drafting or CAD role, preferably within the furniture or interior fit-out industry. Expert-level proficiency in Auto CAD and knowledge of Solid Works, Sketch Up, or Revit is a plus. Strong understanding of furniture joinery, materials, and construction techniques. Ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings. High attention to detail and strong visualization skills. Excellent time management and ability to meet tight deadlines. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Produce detailed CAD drawings (2D/3D) for furniture items, including joinery, upholstery, and metal components. Interpret architectural and designer sketches or concepts into manufacturing-ready drawings. Prepare technical documentation, assembly instructions, and material specifications. Collaborate with designers, engineers, and production staff to ensure drawings reflect practical manufacturing methods. Revise drawings and layouts to accommodate changes and enhancements. Maintain a database of all design and drawing files with proper version control. Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards and safety regulations. Assist in prototyping by providing accurate cut lists, BOMs (Bills of Materials), and exploded views. Conduct site measurements when necessary to support custom-built furniture projects.
