Job requisition id: JR10290665 Job Description: Tesat-Spacecom (TESAT) offers a fully funded Ph D position in the field of free-space optical quantum communication, focusing on multi-user space/aerial QKD network architecture design based on trusted nodes. This position is part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Network “FOCAL,” which includes a consortium of European research institutes, universities, and industry partners. The candidate will be supervised by Dr. Christian Deppe and enrolled in the Ph D program at the Technical University Braunschweig (TUBS). During the thesis, opportunities for collaboration with consortium partners will be available, including planned secondments at DLR-IKN (Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany), Fraunhofer HHI (Berlin, Germany), and short visits to Think Quantum (Padua, Italy) and the University of Edinburgh. We are looking for an excellent candidate with: a Master’s Degree in physics, mathematics, photonics engineering, communications engineering, or related STEM fields analytical thinking skills willingness to work in a team within multi-partner project structures a solid understanding of quantum physics concepts, particularly quantum optics Eligibility criteria: Candidates must meet the following: be within the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers; not have resided or conducted their main activity in the country of the host institution for more than 1 year in the past 3 years (MSCA Mobility Rule); not yet have been awarded a Ph D degree.
