Expires in 2 months GFA is appointing a dedicated, full-time Health and Safety Officer (HSO) to oversee and implement health and safety in the school. Key Responsibilities: Compliance and Regulation: Ensure the school adheres to all relevant health and safety laws and regulations. Stay informed about legislative changes and update policies accordingly. Risk Assessment and Management: Conduct regular risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify hazards. Implement measures to mitigate risks promptly. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans for scenarios like fires and natural disasters. Conduct regular drills for staff and students. Training and Education: Provide training on health and safety practices, including first aid and emergency response. Ensure training is current and relevant. Incident Investigation and Reporting: Investigate accidents and incidents, document findings, report to authorities, analyze trends, and recommend preventive actions. Facility Inspection and Maintenance: Regularly inspect school facilities to ensure safety standards, addressing issues related to cleanliness, maintenance, and hazards. This role is essential in fostering a safety culture and ensuring compliance with GEMS policies and ADEK standards. Skills and Qualifications: Main Qualification: QFE 7 (Bachelor's Degree in Health & Safety) OR Bachelor's in another subject + NEBOSH certification. Additional Qualifications: Courses in Incident Investigation & Reporting, Accredited First Aider, Fire Fighter, Knowledge of ADPHC’s electronic OSH reporting system. Experience: Minimum of 5 years in Health & Safety. GEMS Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students and staff.
