JOB PURPOSE: This role is responsible for developing and implementing policies for efficient collections and recovery of all retail banking unsecured asset products with a view of minimising NPLs. Ensure collection targets are met in terms of NPL Recovery and Bucket resolutions. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Strategic Responsibilities Formulating and implementing cost-effective collection & recovery strategies. Reviewing the collections & recovery strategy regularly and ensuring that collection & recovery techniques adapt to changes in the legal and economic environment. Coaching, training, developing, and motivating the team of Collection Managers to perform at high standards and develop their potential. Core Responsibilities Ensure that the budgeted NPLs cash recovery and/or provision numbers are achieved. Regularly review the collections strategy and train collectors to adapt to changes in the legal and economic landscape. Ensure capacity planning and load balancing for the unit. Maintain contact with law enforcement agencies and external lawyers, updating the unit on legal changes. Provide ongoing portfolio feedback to the Head of Credit & Collections for front-end acceptance criteria modifications. Maintain low-risk audit ratings for the unit. Negotiate and settle with customers through a win-win approach. Ensure collection processes align with the bank's code of conduct and reputation management. Establish a strong collections infrastructure, including external agencies locally and internationally.
