The Future Generation of Resilient and Infrastructure Design Technology Hub (Future GRID Tec H) at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit one or more motivated postdoctoral associates (or research scientists for candidates with 5+ years of post-Ph D experience). Candidates will work under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Moustafa to conduct research in future structures and resilient infrastructure systems, focusing on applications of emerging technologies. Key areas of interest include: Advanced construction and reinforcement materials (UHPC, ECC, SMA) UHPC mix development, material characterization, modeling, and structural design Structural 3D printing (metals, concrete, composites) Computational mechanics and structural topology optimization Vision-based structural health monitoring Autonomous and drone-based infrastructure inspection and vibration monitoring Applicants must hold a Ph D in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Material Engineering. Related fields such as Computer Science, Nuclear Engineering, and Material Science are also considered. Qualifications include strong communication skills, a publication record in peer-reviewed journals, and experience mentoring students. Additional qualifications that are a plus include: Training or certification in additive manufacturing, machine learning, AI, computer vision, robotics, UAVs, CFD Programming expertise (Python, C, GUI development) Experience in computational mechanics, finite element modeling Laboratory and multiscale experimental testing at material and structural levels The role involves working in a multidisciplinary environment, conducting high-quality research, publishing results, mentoring students, and participating in grant writing.
