You will be part of a renowned Geotechnical and National Tunnels team, delivering fire engineering services for landmark projects including High Speed Rail, Suburban Rail Loop IV, Melbourne Underground Rail Loop Upgrade Project, Pumped Hydro projects, T4 Eastern Suburbs Fire Safety Upgrade. Geotechnical & Tunnels Our Geotechnical and Tunnels team is driven by a passion for technical excellence and innovation. Our specialised, forward-looking expertise addresses the evolving challenges that earth, environment, and energy present to our clients and communities. What you’ll do As a WSP Senior Associate / Principal Fire Safety Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving technical excellence and successful project delivery across a variety of impactful and innovative projects. You will also be involved with designing and supporting mechanical and life safety system installation, testing and commissioning on large scale construction projects. A typical day would look like (but not be limited to):
- Helping our clients deliver some of the most technically interesting and challenging fire engineering projects in Australia.
- Working collaboratively with our technically excellent and collaborative national fire engineering and tunnel systems team.
- Project work on underground infrastructure, including in road, rail and pumped hydro tunnel projects.
- Supporting other transportation-related fire-life safety matters on emerging technologies, such as battery electric bus technology adoption.
- Be part of infrastructure builds and rehabilitations across the life cycle including tender design, detail design, and construction phases.
- Supporting and developing WSP’s national tunnel systems business, staff supervision, proposal writing, and occasional travel for client presentations, meetings, site works, and commissioning as project needs arise.
- A Graduate and/or have a Masters in Fire Safety Engineering
- Proven ability in providing key technical expertise across a broad range of high-profile projects.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and reviewing high quality complex technical information in a variety of formats.
- Competent in monitoring and managing the scope (including variations) of multiple projects of varying complexity and size and guiding the work of others.
- Demonstrated multiple instances of delivering best client outcomes/options which have saved the client costs/time and addressed their requirements.
- Extensive experience in client relationships. Ability to communicate complex technical issues to clients and guide the client through regulatory processes.
- Experience in supervising graduates and managing professionals, seniors, and associates in hybrid environments.
