We have a rare opportunity for an experienced Category Manager to lead the Horticultural Merchandise category within our Retail & Water business which supports our Fruitfed Supplies and Rural Supplies units. This national role ensures PGG Wrightson's products in the horticultural hardware, winery and beverage, and machinery categories are market relevant, technically sound, and commercially successful. About the role The Category Manager is responsible for working in partnership with our sales, product, technical and logistics teams to determine PGG Wrightson's strategy in these categories. The Category Manager then delivers this strategy through effective supplier relationship management, negotiation of terms of trade, procurement, distribution management and stakeholder collaboration.You'll be supported by product and technical managers, and your role will be to connect market needs with appropriate sourcing and commercial arrangements. Who are we looking for? We are seeking an experienced category manager who is an expert in horticultural and viticultural practices, commercially astute and a team player who can listen, collaborate, and influence.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar level Category Management role
- Proven industry experience with a sound knowledge of horticultural product lines is essential
- Knowledge of viticulture and/or wine production and/or machinery is desirable
- Experience in supplier relationship management, including negotiating commercial contracts
- Financial and sales analytical skills, including the ability to integrate internal and external data sources and translate this into meaningful insights that inform commercial decisions
- Strong communication skills, including presenting, influencing, collaborating and writing business cases
- Proven successful cross-business collaboration and communication
- Experience in retail or merchandising is also desirable
