Job Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of interpretation and translation services to assist non-English speaking Arab patients.
- Relays instructions and other medical information accurately to patients and their families, ensuring they understand.
- Assists non-English speaking patients with cross-cultural orientation to understand the nuances of medical care systems.
- Provides verbal and written communication between health care providers, clinical staff, and patients/visitors.
- Articulates and documents information accurately to convey patients’ questions and concerns, ensuring messages are consistent with risk management directives.
- Performs other related duties incidental to the work or as per the instructions by the Manager.
- Participates in on-call coverage to provide interpretation/translation services during non-business hours and business hours as assigned.
- Provides and maintains required documentation.
- Maintains positive working relationships within the department/section and between various facility departments.
- Participates in all team efforts as required and collaborates with other members of the team to carry out work smoothly.
- Provides accurate interpretation and translation of information in direct service to physicians and/or other health care providers seeing patients who cannot speak or understand English, when specifically required by the provider.
- Precisely and accurately interprets information given by the provider into equivalent terminology in the patient's native language.
- Assists in translating medical text from English on behalf of internal and external customers.
