Welcome to IBN Corporation and thank you for wanting to be a part of our team. IBN is the Trustee for the Mining Area C (MAC) Agreement between BHP Billiton Pty Ltd, BNTAC and IBN-representing the Yinhawangka, Banyjima and Nyiyaparli people of the Pilbara. Established in 2001, IBN is a registered charity that manages the trust on behalf of the IBN community – providing support directly to beneficiaries, managing a large portfolio of investments – including managed investments and property, and pursuing commercial income generating opportunities to secure the life of the trust in perpetuity. IBN is governed by a Board of 6 traditional owners and 2 independent directors. It has a complex governance structure, is the owner of various subsidiaries and proactively manages corporate risk. IBN’s head office is located in South Hedland, Western Australia, approximately 350 kilometres north of the Mining Area C Project and we also have offices in Perth, Tom Price and Karratha.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced, strategic and results driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our leadership team to assist to scale and drive operational excellence across the business. As COO you will play an integral role in shaping and executing operational strategy, improving efficiency and ensuring that all functions align with IBN’s long-term objectives. You will oversee day-to-day operations, lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous operational improvement. You will collaborate closely with the executive leadership team, developing relationships with stakeholders, fostering a collaborative culture and driving organisational success including the delivery of IBN Community programs as determined by IBN policies and resources, as well as the review and alignment of these to meet IBN’s strategic goals. Our ideal COO will be an exceptional leader with a strong proven track record in operations, problem solving and strategic growth.The Duties:
- Provide strategic advice and work in close partnership with the CEO and Executive team in relation to IBN’s strategic objectives, policies and operational planning.
- Maintain a culture throughout the Corporation of responsible and ethical behaviour, integrity, accountability and Member focus.
- Manage all CEO delegated responsibility for approved budgets and programs.
- Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead, mentor and develop Leaders and operational teams fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and innovation.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of operations and adjust strategies as needed.
- Promote and integrate Indigenous culture and values into all aspects of the corporation.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including community members, government, and partners and work closely with the Chief Member Services Officer to uplift service delivery.
- Lead the design and implementation of programs that meet community needs.
- Drive organisational efficiency and stability by optimising processes and resource allocation, ensuring effective governance and risk management, continuously improving programs and services to maintain high delivery standards.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of legal and regulatory obligations.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of projects.
- Drive initiatives that support community growth, empowerment, and well-being.
- Report preparation for key stakeholders.
- Data analysis and interpretation.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of WHS and risk management initiatives and practices in the workplace.
- Other general duties as required.
The Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent Senior Level experience in the social services sector.
- Ability to apply an understanding of historic and current issues affecting Aboriginal Australians to decision making processes.
- Experience working with Aboriginal people and understanding Aboriginal Australian culture is essential.
- National police clearance or ability to obtain.
- Ability to work autonomously and flexibly.
- Significant leadership acumen including coaching and empowering leaders and teams.
- Influencing and negotiating skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, project management and reporting skills.
- Proven delivery of complex client service to multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in driving and managing organisational change.
- Demonstrated financial management and budgeting skills.
- Experience maintaining high levels of confidentiality and compliance with privacy laws.
