Principal HV/ MV Electrical Engineer Location: Glasgow + hybrid Sector: Defence Eligibility to obtain UK security clearance is essential About the Role We are seeking an experienced Principal HV/MV Electrical Engineer to support the technical capability of our clients Electrical Design team. This role focuses on the design, assessment, and maintenance of high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) electrical systems and infrastructure, with opportunities to work on significant projects in safety-critical industries. Key Responsibilities Technical Excellence:
- Develop, specify, and assess HV and MV electrical design packages.
- Define reliability and operational constraints for electrical systems and infrastructure.
- Evaluate the condition, design, and ageing mechanisms of HV/MV electrical systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety and security protocols and promote a culture of safety throughout projects.
- Extensive experience in HV and MV electrical design engineering, including:
- HV/MV and LV distribution systems.
- Protection systems and control & instrumentation (C&I) systems.
- A strong understanding of British and international design standards.
- Experience in infrastructure design and maintenance in complex or high-hazard environments.
- Analytical skills to evaluate risks, condition, and operational constraints of electrical assets.
- Proven ability to deliver projects safely, on time, and to required standards.
- Experience within the nuclear or defence sectors is highly advantageous.
- Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent professional recognition.
- HNC or equivalent in an electrical engineering discipline.
- Degree or equivalent qualifications in electrical engineering or a relevant discipline.
- This role requires SC clearance and applicants must meet residency criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
- Permanent staff or umbrella contract options are available.
