Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. Raytheon’s Operations Engineering is looking for a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. In this position you will have a high degree of interaction with personnel in Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and program management. In this role, you will support manufacturing efforts at the offset supplier for the TPY-2 program in a manufacturing engineering capacity. This includes, but is not limited to, providing manufacturing engineering support through lean principles, automation, continuous improvement, and root causal analysis. This Unaccompanied position will be onsite in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for a long-term international assignment with additional compensation. What You Will Do
- Work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to support manufacturing.
- Troubleshoot hardware and equipment, analyze data, write work instructions, support failure investigations, and train personnel to perform necessary processes.
- Troubleshoot failures through data analysis and visual inspection.
- Identify trends in defects and work with the appropriate teams to resolve in a timely manner to prevent future defects in the build process.
- Maintain and improve process and test procedures as well as review and comment on change requests.
- Integrate process improvements.
- May have opportunities to help develop new processes and tests.
- May take on other duties and responsibilities such as test coordination between program and supplier.
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior engineering experience.
- Experience supporting a manufacturing factory and standardizing processes.
- Experience with process flow development and improvements.
- Experience with work instruction development.
- Experience with drawing interpretation, including Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T), electrical schematics, and wire diagrams.
- Experience using CAD software, including floor layouts and drawing reviews.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience with heavy trailer assembly, including air brakes, air ride suspensions / axles, airline installs, trailer lighting installs, tire and wheel installs / torque sequence.
- Experience with metallization, welding, and Chemical Agent Resistant Coatings (CARC) paint.
- Experience ensuring the supplier follows established processes.
- Experience with helping the supplier further develop processes, including painting.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical systems.
- Experience with defense-qualified ground equipment.
- Experience recommending improvements, based on best practices, for electronic assembly area layouts, tooling, equipment, and station set-up.
