Director, Strategy, Governance and Risk at Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington
Type: Permanent Hours: Full time Location: Wellington Branch: Enterprise Services Salary: $200,431 - $249,426 Te Tari Taiwhenua, the Department of Internal Affairs, serves and connects people, communities and government to build a safe, prosperous and respected nation. In other words, we are all about helping to make New Zealand Aotearoa better for all. The Enterprise Services branch supports the Department at an enterprise level. Functions include legal, finance, human resources, communications, property management, health and safety, information management, security, and strategy, governance and risk. The Māori Capability Uplift Programme also sits within the branch. A rare opportunity is available for an outstanding leader to join us. The Director Strategy, Governance and Risk works alongside our Executive Leadership Team to lead the Department in charting its long-term direction, identifying the value we add and accounting for how well we are doing. The Director is a trusted partner to our senior leaders, driving strategic development and providing assurance on performance to the Chief Executive and Executive Leadership Team. To be successful in the role you will have:- Experience working in a senior leadership team within a large and complex public service environment and able to build strong relationships to work collaboratively
- Significant experience advising on and modelling a long-term investment plan within a large complex and diverse organisation
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Working knowledge of the Public Sector including, an in-depth understanding of financial planning processes, Public Finance Act, State Sector Act and GAAP
- In-depth experience in leading organisational change in a diverse, complex and changing business environment
- Strategic capability and able to think beyond immediate issues to consider the longer term and broader implications; including develop and explain possible future scenarios, as well as identifies risks and anticipates long term opportunities and threats
