Ravenswood School for Girls is a Uniting Church Prep to Year 12 day and boarding school for girls located on Sydney’s North Shore. Ravenswood offers both the HSC and the IB Diploma Programme as well as the PYP in the Junior School. We are currently seeking a casual Library Technician to join our Learning Resources Department at Ravenswood. Flexibility to work from 3 pm to 9 pm on weekdays during term time and 9 am to 3 pm during school holidays is desirable. We will be able to work with the successful candidate regarding their availability and the shifts available. The Library Technician is an integral member of the Ravenswood Learning Resource Centre (LRC) team and works with the Head of LRC, the Teacher Librarians, and the Library Technicians. This role involves liaising with students, staff, parents, and suppliers to provide an efficient and welcoming service within the school community. The Library Technician may be required to work in both the Junior and Senior libraries, contributing to a collaborative and positive environment in the LRC. A growth mindset and a responsible, ethical approach to all aspects of this position are essential.
Role Responsibilities
- A genuine passion for literacy and education in a school context
- Establishing and/or monitoring day-to-day systems and workflows in consultation with library team members
- Familiarity with automated library systems and procedures, alongside strong ICT skills and a willingness to learn innovative technologies
- Providing Information Desk duty at lunchtime, after school, and during class visits, ensuring a high level of service
- Monitoring and assisting students in the library and supporting research activities
- Contributing to library activities, displays, and promotions in a creative and collaborative manner
- A degree or diploma qualification in Librarianship or Library and Information Management is preferred
