Workshop Supervisor - Somersby Workshop Supervisor Weir Minerals Somersby NSW Onsite/Workshop Purpose of the Role: The Workshop Supervisor at our Somersby Workshop on the Central Coast of New South Wales, is responsible for safety, quality, lean, administration and achieving production levels to support product sales within cost and efficiency KPI’s. This position will be working with Field Service staff on many various business objectives including but not limited to safety, maintenance, process improvement and lean principles.   • Provide service and supervision to customers' equipment such as Steam Turbines, Gearboxes (Parallel Shaft and Epicyclic) together with associated Ancillary Equipment for Workshop Overhauls & Repairs.
  • From time to time support other Weir group equipment both in the workshop and on site.
  • Maintain relationships with Field Service workshop staff and subcontractors.
  • Work with regional management to establish and implement a sustainable growth of the allocated Field Service workshop.
  • Prepare estimates and quotes to the Field Service Customer Service Manager - Rotating Equipment for repairs for submission to the client.
  • Create service orders and Job Packs.
  • Review and ensure job packs are completed accurately and with sufficient detail for quotation purposes following strip survey.
  • Recommend improvements to be forwarded to customers that will reduce their TOC.
  • Liaising with product managers to ensure that adequate information is supplied to ensure that jobs can be completed in a safe and timely manner.
  • Exhibit a collaborative approach to ensure that customer needs are prioritized and satisfied to meet set service levels.
  • Maintenance of internal customer records.
  • Dispatch and receipt of goods and equipment.

Key Requirements:
  • Trade qualifications in mechanical fitting or engineering exposure to high speed, high pressure rotating equipment.
  • Experience working on Steam Turbines, Gearboxes is essential for this role.
  • Prior experience in a workshop leadership role with proven commercial acumen and customer focus.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients
