Expression of Interest for Course Advisory Committee member – Lived Experience Position Title Course Advisory Committee member – Lived Experience Position Reporting to Course Coordinator or Dean Employment Status Volunteer Classification Academic Location Hawthorn East About us Established over 60 years ago, The Cairnmillar Institute is a not-for-profit organisation that is solely focused on the advancement of better mental health through education, research and treatment in the field of psychology, counselling and psychotherapy. Cairnmillar is now one of the largest trainers of postgraduate psychologists and counsellors in Australia. In addition to our educational programs, we offer a range of clinical services across our four clinic sites (North Melbourne, Hawthorn East, Dandenong and CBD) as well as remote services. We pride ourselves in offering a flexible and enjoyable collegial workplace . Position Purpose This Position will work closely with the Dean and Course teams. The appointee will: - Increase awareness and understanding of Lived Experience perspectives on course objectives and design.
- Promote and enable consumer and carer inclusion, participation and leadership
- Facilitate and streamline co-design processes
Key Responsibilities - Attend Course Advisory Committee meetings (2 per year).
- Provide considered advise to course development and review.
- Provide expertise and advice to ensure all aspects of course design, future planning, and course review are completed with a consideration of the Lived Experience perspective.
- Engage authentically with the principles around co-design.
Key Selection Criteria Knowledge, Experience and Skills - Lived experience of mental illness, AOD, family violence and/or trauma
- Lived experience of the recovery journey
- Personal experience of the public or private mental health systems or AoD service system
- Demonstrated ability to engage with others and work collaboratively
- Highly developed communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting the voice of people with a lived experience and understanding of contemporary lived experience peer work models;
Qualifications, Certificates and Experience - Qualifications in Education is desired.
- Completion of a Criminal History Check and Employee Working With Children Check (or State equivalent) prior to commencement of employment and as required by legislation and policy during employment, as well as a duty to disclose relevant information that may arise after employment has commenced
- A cleared National Worker Screening Check prior to commencement of employment
