Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare accurate financial statements, profit-and-loss reports, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Logistics & Freight Forwarding Accounting:
- Manage cost accounting related to freight, warehousing, and transportation.
- Reconcile freight payables and receivables with accuracy.
- Monitor shipping invoices, demurrage fees, and customs clearance costs.
- Compliance & Auditing:
- Ensure compliance with UAE VAT laws and other financial regulations.
- Prepare and coordinate audits, both internal and external.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in alignment with international accounting standards (IAS/IFRS).
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Supervise a team of accountants and finance assistants, ensuring timely and efficient task completion.
- Mentor and train team members in best financial practices and new systems.
- Strategic Financial Planning:
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for financial decision-making.
- Analyze financial performance and provide actionable strategies for cost reduction and profit maximization.
- ERP Systems Management:
- Implement and manage ERP systems for logistics and financial operations.
- Work with IT and logistics teams to integrate financial data with operational systems.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as ACCA, CMA, CPA, or CA are preferred.
- Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in the logistics or freight forwarding industry.
- Familiarity with international trade regulations, Incoterms, and customs processes.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software such as SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks.
- Advanced Excel skills for financial modeling and data analysis.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably specific to logistics.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
