Job Description Position: Principal Tax Accountant Location: India/Pune Balewadi Department: Global Tax & Tax Shared Services About the Role: As a Tax Accountant within India, you will be a key member of the Global Tax & Tax Shared Services team. Your primary responsibilities will focus on Indirect Tax activities, including tax accounting, compliance, planning, and controversy, across the APAC and EMEA regions. You will work closely with the India Tax Lead and Global Tax team to ensure compliance with tax laws and provide support for business initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Accounting and Compliance:
- Prepare workpapers for VAT/GST returns and audits.
- Ensure timely and accurate tax accounting activities, including VAT/GST control checks and reconciliations.
- Manage VAT/GST declarations end-to-end, including data collection, preparation, filing, payment, and submission.
- Reconcile VAT/GST accounting accounts with declarations, P&L, and Intrastat filings.
- Tax Planning and Support:
- Gather and organize backup documentation for VAT/GST reporting.
- Request and manage VAT/GST invoice revisions and credits as necessary.
- Support AP, Logistics, Legal, IT, Sales, and HR teams on tax-related issues.
- Process Improvement and Initiatives:
- Develop and implement robust tax processes and procedures.
- Ensure a strong control environment for management accounts related to VAT/GST.
- Contribute to the implementation of global and regional tax initiatives and projects.
- Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with external service providers and manage deliverables.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure tax compliance and efficiency.
- Ensure timely indirect tax payments and submissions where necessary.
- Chartered Accountant (CA), MBA in Finance, or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in an Indirect Tax function, preferably in a U.S. multinational corporation.
- Strong knowledge of Tax rules for APAC and EMEA regions.
- Experience with tax technology tools like Alteryx, SABRIX, etc.
- Familiarity with the software industry.
- Strong Excel proficiency for managing data and computations.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage relationships effectively.
- Experience in process improvement and project management.
