Control System Network Engineer

The Control System Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of control system networks, data communications, data historians, and subsystem interfaces. The role includes providing support to project and application engineers as needed. Key Responsibilities:

• Network Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with customers to define network hardware and software requirements through review of customer-supplied documentation, meetings, and surveys of existing systems.
• Design & Implementation: Develop, review, and approve detailed designs, material requisitions, configurations, testing, and troubleshooting (both on-site and remotely) for control system networks, data communications (e.g., OPC), and data historians (e.g., ExaQuantum).
• Network Setup: Configure network systems for internal use and customer projects. Assess new products and features, documenting results for future reference. Support staging personnel in handling complex network configurations.
• Project Execution: Plan, execute, and document all phases of installation, integration, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and startup activities.
• Project Management: Establish project schedules, plan team assignments, and anticipate potential issues to minimize rework. Mentor and supervise team members, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks. Report status updates to the Technical Lead and Project Manager proactively.
• Standards Development: Create and review new tools, templates, standards, procedures, and test plans related to network implementation, commissioning, and maintenance. Incorporate improvements into department standards.
• Training & Support: Prepare and deliver formal training sessions for both customers and internal staff on system networks, tools, and processes.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement to enhance quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency through standardization and reuse of best practices.
• Project Support: Step into Project Engineer or Application Engineer roles as needed to ensure project deadlines are met and target utilization rates are maintained.
• Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned.

• Strong knowledge of Yokogawa systems, network configurations, data historians, and engineering tools.
• Experience working with Automation (DCS/PLCs) in an IT/OT field.
• Expertise in computer networks, data communications, and database configuration/administration within process control or industrial environments.
• Up-to-date with trends in information management, including network load monitoring, access control/security, and setting up client applications on customer systems.

• Able to manage multiple projects and meet key project milestones.
• Strong familiarity with YCA procedures related to project management and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Quality-focused with attention to detail, ensuring all work meets or exceeds expectations.
• Excellent team player who can also work independently.
• Willingness to travel extensively for project assignments, both domestically and internationally.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in network and database administration, with at least 4 years focused on process control information systems, applications, or networks.
