As a Governance Services Officer at Waitaki District Council, you will play a key role in ensuring efficient governance processes that support transparent decision-making and community engagement. You will provide high-quality governance support, manage meeting processes, and assist elected members in fulfilling their responsibilities. This role involves preparing agendas and minutes, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders. You will contribute to the continuous improvement of governance policies and practices while fostering a culture of excellence and accountability within the Council. He aha taau e kawe mai | What you’ll bring The preferred candidate will have:
- Qualifications: A diploma-level qualification in governance or a related field, or relevant experience in governance processes. A full NZ Driver’s Licence is required.
- Governance Expertise: At least 3 years of experience in a governance support role within the public or private sector, with strong proficiency in preparing high-quality meeting minutes.
- Knowledge of Local Government: A solid understanding of legislation, policies, and procedures related to local government and governance practices.
- Communication and Relationship Management: Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with elected members, colleagues, and stakeholders while providing excellent service.
- Organisation and Attention to Detail: Strong planning and multitasking abilities, with a keen eye for accuracy in documentation and governance processes.
