Roles and Responsibilities
Crescent Petroleum Upstream is seeking a technical lead for geophysics to join the Subsurface Team. The Lead Geophysicist will lead a team of geophysicists and provide technical leadership for all geophysical studies, including managing geophysical projects, providing expert analysis, and guiding the interpretation of geophysical data. An important part of this is managing team performance (goal setting and performance evaluation) and team development (identifying training needs and supporting career advancement). Additionally, the Lead Geophysicist is expected to lead the geophysics part of Upstream’s well delivery process and provide technical support to ongoing drilling operations, as well as support area asset managers and field development projects. Furthermore, it is expected that the Lead Geophysicist participates in the annual workplan and budget process to provide necessary input pertaining to the geophysics domain. An important part of the Lead Geophysicist’s role is to plan and manage geophysics projects to ensure on-time delivery within budget. Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor a team of geophysicists, providing technical guidance
- Undertake, manage, and deliver high-quality technical project work
- Provide technical scope and deliverables for project proposals
- Contribute to business development activities
- Manage execution of geophysical projects ensuring timely delivery within budget
- Develop and implement strategic goals and objectives for the geophysics team
- Organize and contribute to partner workshops and meetings
- Track performance and manage costs of geophysics budget items
- Evaluate geophysical contracts including assessment of new technologies and equipment
- Design and oversee acquisition, processing, and interpretation of geophysical data
- Advise on best equipment and software choices for geophysical data acquisition and processing
- Design acquisition reporting templates and other appropriate documentation
- Oversee seismic interpretation and cross-discipline data integration
- Prepare and deliver technical reports, presentations, and documentation
- Present interpretations and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders
- Provide mentoring and technical assistance to younger technical staff
Desired Candidate Profile
- Design and oversee acquisition, processing, and interpretation of geophysical data
- Advise on best equipment and software choices for geophysical data acquisition and processing
- Design acquisition reporting templates and other appropriate documentation
- Oversee seismic interpretation and cross-discipline data integration
- Prepare and deliver technical reports, presentations, and documentation
- Present interpretations and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders
- Provide mentoring and technical assistance to younger technical staff
- University degree in geophysics - MSc or PhD degree is preferred
- 12-15+ years of experience in geophysics (E&P Operating Company or Geoscience Consultancy)
- Held similar positions leading high-performance technical teams
- Proven experience in managing geophysical projects
- Expertise in seismic interpretation and data processing
- Must be fluent in English; skills in Arabic are an advantage
- Must be proficient in Petrel; skills in other industry software are an advantage
