The Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment & Research (NSICTR), Lahore, has been designed as a 915 bedded facility, in consultation with International Oncology Experts, as the first ever comprehensive cancer treatment & research institute in Pakistan. The institute is envisaged to be a body corporate with an independent Board of Governors. The Government of Punjab is pleased to offer the highest management position of the Institution, a Chief Medical Team Lead (Chief Oncologist) to serve as its CEO , leading the institute in both clinical and administrative functions, with the mission to pioneer cancer treatment advancements in Pakistan. Position Overview: The Chief Medical Team Lead will play a dual role as Chief Oncologist and CEO, guiding the institute's phased setup, establishing world-class operational and clinical protocols, and building a robust research environment. This role is critical for aligning with Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, Government of the Punjab as well as Pakistan Medical & Dental Council policies, maintaining international standards, and leading groundbreaking healthcare initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
- Phased Setup and Development: Oversee the step-by-step establishment of clinical, research, and administrative units within the institute.
- Clinical and Team Leadership: Build and manage a skilled oncology team to ensure excellence in patient-centered care.
- Protocol Development: Develop and implement protocols aligned with national and international oncology standards.
- Research and Collaboration: Guide the institute's research efforts and foster collaborations with local and global cancer treatment experts.
- Operational Oversight: Establish and oversee the financial, operational, and administrative foundations to ensure sustainability and efficiency of the project and subsequent operations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and adherence to Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department directives.
- Stakeholder and Donor Engagement: Engage with stakeholders and secure donor support for facility expansion, research initiatives, and patient care improvements.
- Public Representation: Represent the institute at public forums, advocating for advancements in cancer treatment and raising the institute's profile.
- MBBS or equivalent as recognized by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC).
- Specializations: Recognized postgraduate qualification in oncology or related fields (FCPS, FRCP, MD in Oncology, or equivalent). Masters in Hospital Management on top of the above would be preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years in Oncology, with proven senior leadership experience in hospital setup or senior clinical management role.
- Experience of leading an academic medical institution or heading an Oncology Treatment center offering comprehensive cancer treatment OR heading a clinical department/unit/organization with oncology diseases OR having managed a significant number of oncology treatments as an independent or lead clinician, intensivist, or surgeon OR thirty or more publications in international indexed medical journals in the specialty of Oncology.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and strategic thinking skills.
- Proven experience in engaging stakeholders and fostering long-term donor relationships to support hospital initiatives.
