The Vice President of Business Management for the Sustainability unit in Malaysia will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the unit, including financial management, recruitment and hiring, and ensuring the execution of the MY-related sustainability strategy to drive operational excellence and cross-functional collaboration. This role reports directly to the Head of Sustainability, Malaysia.
Key Responsibilities
Sustainability Strategic Initiatives
- Develop and execute the Sustainability Strategy, including project-managing MY-related strategic initiatives and providing regular updates to stakeholders and/or management and Board committees.
- Drive annual planning and prioritisation of MY-related sustainability initiatives, including tracking progress against success measures.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with external stakeholders such as government ministries and industry working groups, ensuring projects/initiatives meet quality expectations set by the Steering Committee.
- Lead collaboration efforts between business units to achieve business growth goals.
- Support department head in preparing management updates for forums such as MY Business Review Committee (MY BRC) and MY Management Committee (MYMC).
- Support department head and CEO in preparing materials for external engagements such as speaking engagements, panel discussions, presentations, and thought leadership articles.
Hiring and Finance Operations
- Manage the unit's operational budget, ensuring cost-effective operations while aligning with organisational priorities.
- Work closely with Finance teams on local finance activities such as reconciliation and chargeouts.
- Support department head in managing end-to-end hiring and HR-related activities such as talent identification and management, interviews, onboarding, and offboarding.
Other Responsibilities
- Manage strategic sourcing/procurement needs for the unit while adhering to relevant policies and procedures.
- Support department head in improving the unit's Organisation Health Index by executing action plans in a timely manner.
- Oversee the department's administrative needs such as workstations, hardware and software, and meetings/townhalls.
- Support department head in coordinating the unit's consolidated individual and collective scorecard/KPIs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a financial or sustainability-related discipline from a recognised institution.
- 10 years of relevant working experience, with more than 3 years in Sustainability strategy, business management, and/or business transformation.
- Experience in banking/financial services is preferred.
- A strong passion for sustainability and good understanding of global material issues.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and consensus building skills, and management experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, project management, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
