Job Title: Engineer I/II - Water and Utilities Location: Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 US (Primary) Category: Job Type: Full-Time Salary Grade: $0.00 - $0.00 (Varies based on Experience) SGM is seeking a full-time Engineer I/II to join our Civil – Water & Utilities Team. This position would specialize in all types of water projects, for both private and municipal clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to live, work, and play in western Colorado. The home office location for this position is in Glenwood Springs. Benefits may be prorated for part-time employees. This position will be posted until filled but no sooner than three days from now.- Depending on experience level, the anticipated salary range for this position may be as follows:
- Engineer I (0-2 years) – $70,000 - $79,000 per year, and Engineer II (2-5 years) - $72,000 - $88,600 per year.
- Design of municipal water lines, storm drainage & sanitary sewer, post-fire flood control measures, agricultural irrigation systems, ponds, natural streams, underground utility design, and other general civil engineering projects.
- Production of plan sheets for above mentioned projects.
- Use of Pipe and Pressure Networks in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Assist with Hydrology and Hydraulic calculations.
- Coordinate aspects of design with other technical staff (roadway, structural, survey, etc.).
- Generate Reports and Technical Memos related to design and calculations.
- Occasional coordination with SUE (Subsurface Utility Engineering) team.
- Use of design criteria and guidelines, such as:
- Municipality specific Engineering or Design Standards
- NRCS Standards and Specifications
- Industry & Manufacturer design guides
- CDOT M & S Standards
- Graduated from an accredited university with a bachelor’s or higher degree in civil engineering, water resources engineering, or related field of study.
- Attention to detail, ability to follow detailed instructions, and work independently.
- Successful time-management and multi-tasking skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work well with others.
- A strong interest in the design of waterways or natural channels, water pipelines, drainage, irrigation systems, and other general civil engineering.
- Proficiency or the ability to learn AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and the ability to learn and use new software.
- Basic understanding of engineering skills and practices.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Colorado Engineering Intern (EI) certification or ability to obtain.
- Experience in the design of waterways or natural channels, water pipelines, drainage, irrigation systems, and other general civil engineering.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Hydraulics and Hydrology design software experience such as Hydraflow Express/Hydrographs, TR-55, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, etc.
- Additional background in surveying, utilities, or construction fields.
