Accountant

Hire Resolve's client , a leading company in the wine wholesale industry based in Stellenbosch, is currently seeking an Accountant to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your expertise will contribute to the company's financial success.

Responsibilities

1. Supervise and mentor the Assistant Accountant, including training, development, and performance feedback.
2. Perform all accounting tasks up to the trial balance level for all entities within the group, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
3. Record and review all financial transactions in the general ledger.
4. Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
5. Conduct monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.
6. Oversee and manage monthly accruals for recurring expenses.
7. Ensure accurate posting of system integration journals within Syspro monthly and promptly resolve any issues or discrepancies.
8. Approve payments and monitor cash flow reports to optimise cash flow and interest earnings.
9. Ensure accurate calculation and submission of statutory payments, including VAT and provisional tax, on time.
10. Maintain compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
11. Support and coordinate audit processes.
12. Identify and implement process improvements while maintaining strong internal controls.
13. Collaborate with other departments to support business objectives and communicate financial information effectively.
14. Complete regulatory questionnaires (e.g., STATS SA).

Requirements

1. Educational Qualification :
   • BTech Cost and Management Accounting, BCom, or a similar qualification with completed articles.
2. Experience :
   • Proven experience in finance and accounting roles.
   • Strong background in using Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Outlook, etc.).
   • Experience with Syspro is advantageous.
3. Skills :
   • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
   • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to handle large volumes of data efficiently.
   • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
   • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
