Senior Planner

About the role | Ko te mahi nei Your work will be varied, challenging, and expose you to a wide and unique range of planning issues across the City and Banks Peninsula, including opportunities to grow expertise in specific areas. Additionally, you will provide:

• Expert planning advice to our customers, liaise with experts, and provide recommendations on notified and non-notified applications (including land use, subdivision, and notices of requirement).
• Manage complex applications, providing pre-app advice, attending hearings, and taking appeals to the Environment Court.
• Make robust decisions on resource consent applications and will act as a mentor to less experienced planners, with coaching being a core component of the role.

As we're a large Territorial Authority, you'll be part of a diverse team of peers who enjoy the work environment and opportunities at Christchurch City Council. We're looking for someone with:

• A degree in urban/regional planning, resource management or similar which is recognised by the New Zealand Planning Institute (in terms of eligibility for full membership of the Institute).
• A comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of the Resource Management Act, District Plans and the wider planning framework, and demonstrated experience in the resource consent process.
• Desire to develop your leadership skills.
