The Estimator Engineer - Fit-Out will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for fit-out projects, including office spaces, commercial buildings, villas, and other interior construction projects. The role involves working closely with architects, project managers, clients, and suppliers to ensure that all costs are accurately calculated and aligned with project goals, budgets, and specifications.

Job Overview:

The Estimator Engineer - Fit-Out will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for fit-out projects, including office spaces, commercial buildings, villas, and other interior construction projects. The role involves working closely with architects, project managers, clients, and suppliers to ensure that all costs are accurately calculated and aligned with project goals, budgets, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation and Budgeting:

  • Prepare Detailed Estimates : Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for fit-out projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Evaluate Tender Documents : Review project specifications, drawings, and contracts to understand project requirements and scope.
  • Cost Breakdown : Break down the costs into categories (e.g., labor, materials, overheads, and equipment) and create detailed cost reports.
  • Pricing and Quotations : Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring that estimates align with current market prices.

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Project Analysis : Analyze and interpret architectural and engineering drawings to accurately estimate the materials, labor, and time needed for the project.
  • Cost Control : Monitor the project budget and manage costs during the project lifecycle, providing ongoing cost assessments and adjustments as necessary.
  • Tender Preparation : Prepare competitive tender bids, including detailed breakdowns of the proposed costs and justifications.
  • Value Engineering : Suggest cost-effective alternatives or value-engineering solutions that meet the project's requirements without compromising quality.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Liaise with Project Teams : Work closely with project managers, designers, and engineers to understand the project scope, timeline, and specific requirements.
  • Client Communication : Assist in client meetings, providing accurate and timely cost estimates and ensuring client expectations are managed.
  • Supplier and Subcontractor Relations : Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Risk Assessment : Identify potential risks that could affect the project budget, including material price fluctuations or delays, and propose mitigation strategies.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain Records : Keep accurate and up-to-date records of estimates, changes, and revisions.
  • Prepare Reports : Provide regular progress reports, including cost analysis, changes, and potential savings, to senior management and clients.
  • Change Orders : Manage change orders and ensure that adjustments to the initial estimate are documented and communicated properly.

Market Research and Cost Data:

  • Market Analysis : Research the latest trends, material prices, and construction methods to ensure estimates are based on current market conditions.
  • Cost Database : Maintain an updated database of material and labor costs for reference in future estimates.

Risk Management and Value Engineering:

  • Cost Risks : Identify potential cost-related risks and proactively address them.
  • Value Engineering : Provide value engineering input to reduce project costs without sacrificing quality, functionality, or safety.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Certification in Estimating or Quantity Surveying (e.g., RICS, AACE) is a plus.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in estimating or cost management, preferably in fit-out or interior construction projects.
  • Proven experience working on commercial, residential, or retail fit-out projects.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard estimation software (e.g., CostX, ProEst, PlanSwift) and Microsoft Office Suite.
