Database Administrator

Job Description

1. Database Backup and Recovery:
   1. Perform regular backups of headquarter servers, store servers, and Point of Sale (POS) systems to ensure data integrity and availability.
   2. Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to minimize data loss and downtime and perform regular test restores.
2. Log Shipping:
   1. Manage and maintain log shipping for all company databases to ensure data consistency and availability across different locations.
   2. Monitor log-shipping processes and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
3. Performance Monitoring:
   1. Continuously monitor database performance to identify and resolve bottlenecks and performance issues.
   2. Utilize performance-monitoring tools to ensure optimal database performance and availability.
4. Advanced Custom Queries:
   1. Create and optimize advanced custom queries to support business operations and reporting needs.
   2. Collaborate with business and IT teams to understand data requirements and develop efficient queries.
5. Database Optimization:
   1. Implement best practices for database optimization, like indexing, query optimization, and resource management and other tools to improve performance.
   2. Regularly review and optimize database configurations to ensure efficient operation.

Job Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. 
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in SQL Database management, preferably in the retail sector. 
• Proficiency in SQL and database scripting languages.
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills. 
• Proficiency with log shipping, database replication, and data synchronization techniques
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Knowledge of database security best practices.
• Experience in creating custom queries to support business operations and reporting.
