Learn more at Position responsibilities: The piping engineer shall be responsible for the design of overall oil and gas terminals, including the piping layouts, valves, fittings, and the placement of equipment and process units, as per the applicable codes, regulations, standards and best engineering practice, to ensure the safe operation of the facilities for the design life. The piping engineer shall have a good knowledge in material selection, pressure and temperature ratings, corrosion resistance, and other long-term reliability and performance factors.
- Prepare work instructions for designers.
- Collaborate with the designing team members from other trades to properly implement ideas.
- Analyze all mechanical designs (piping and equipment layout and isometrics), sketch various concepts for piping designs and finally develop necessary mechanical drawings and documents (specs, MTOs, Data Sheets).
- Interpret all design codes and ensure effective performance of all piping activities.
- Prepare piping and equipment material specifications.
- Prepare a list of required material and material take-off (MTO).
- Review machinal design and technical documents (specs, MTOs, Data Sheets, Vendor Documents) and drawings.
- Develop Static and Dynamic Hydraulic models.
- Perform Stress Analysis.
- Design Supports.
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D model development using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D.
- Proficient at reviewing drawings, technical documents, and calculations for code compliance.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (B.E/B.Tech Mechanical)
- Experience: 5 to 10 years in Gas & Fuel or a related field.
