The primary role of the Contract Operations Specialist is to provide ongoing support to the Director of Operations with departmental tasks and responsibilities. The goal of the Operations Specialist is to engage in day-to-day problem solving by utilizing the knowledge obtained of the company’s supply chain and distribution processes, procedures, and regulations. Main duties include maintaining existing relationships with contract third party carriers and warehouses, ensuring ongoing compliance with quality management programs, and supporting internal departments in resolving outstanding supply chain challenges. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Transportation System
- Maintain existing relationships with third party carriers and ensure compliance with Barentz’ Responsible Distribution™ quality management system; including ensuring timely completion of annual carrier reviews and updating documentation
- Assist the Operations Coordinator in obtaining competitive freight quotes as required for all modes of transportation including air, road, rail, and ocean.
- Assist Logistics Manager in the development and administration of Barentz’ transportation system including database updates for changes and additions to freight rates
- Place third party carrier freight claims and facilitate service improvements
- Conduct market research for potential new third-party carriers
- Focus on understanding the applicable transportation regulations
- Identify, document, and analyze warehouse and carrier non-conformances to prevent reoccurrence
- Assist the Quality Coordinator with completion of non-conformance investigations, identify root causes, and apply corrective action and preventative action as needed
- Assist the Quality Coordinator as needed to evaluate non-conformance trends along with recommendations for improvement
- Manages all inventory disposals both through the warehouse and GFL when necessary.
- Visits the warehouse to investigate issues or concerns related to a specific non-conformance or warehouse non-conformance performance reviews.
- Maintain existing relationships with third party warehouses and ensure compliance with Barentz’ Responsible Distribution™ quality management system; including ensuring timely completion of annual warehouse reviews and updating documentation
- Attend warehouse visits to meet with warehouse representatives and management to resolve outstanding issues and address process improvements
- Conduct monthly stock reconciliation for all third-party warehouse facilities
- Attend quality management systems audits of third-party facilities
- Support internal departments and commercial business divisions with warehouse costing
- Inspect various products at warehouse facilities as required
- Generate warehouse work order requests and ensure completion
- Follow RDC email updates to obtain news on chemical and ingredient distribution industry and operations/logistics information
- Involvement on RDC Safe Operations Committee
- Work closely with the Responsible Distribution Coordinator to ensure ongoing compliance with program standards
- Conduct operational analysis for new business opportunities, identify distribution challenges and suggest solutions to business problems
- Provide training to employees and third-party providers regarding company Standard Operating Procedures
- Assist co-workers with various ad-hoc projects as required
- Support and lead by example, Barentz’ culture, strategies, pillars, and fundamentals
- Participate in ongoing personal development opportunities
- Perform other duties as requested

- Special training may be required to ensure product hazards are identified and risk of exposure is mitigated
