Architectural Design Manager

Job description 1. Project Design & Coordination:

• Lead and manage the architectural design process for a variety of project types (commercial, residential, mixed-use, etc.), from conceptual design through to construction documentation.
• Supervise design teams in creating innovative, functional, and sustainable design solutions that meet project requirements, codes, and client expectations.
• Coordinate and integrate architectural designs with structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and other disciplines, using Revit as the central tool for design coordination and clash detection.
• Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards, making adjustments as needed to maintain project goals.

• Serve as the primary Revit expert within the team, ensuring the correct and efficient use of Revit tools and workflows across all stages of design and documentation.
• Develop and enforce Revit standards, templates, and project workflows to streamline the design process and ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Maintain and optimize Revit families, libraries, and custom components to improve team productivity and design quality.
• Lead the implementation of BIM processes for project delivery, from schematic design through to construction documentation and beyond, ensuring all models are coordinated and up-to-date.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any Revit-related technical issues or challenges that arise during the design process.

• Manage, mentor, and provide leadership to a team of architects and junior designers, offering guidance on design development, technical issues, and Revit best practices.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative design environment that encourages open communication and the sharing of ideas.
• Conduct regular training sessions to improve team proficiency in Revit, BIM workflows, and other design-related tools.
• Provide constructive feedback, conduct performance reviews, and assist with career development of team members.

• Work directly with clients to understand project goals, vision, and requirements, and communicate design ideas and concepts effectively through visual and written presentations.
• Present design options and progress to clients and stakeholders, incorporating feedback and making design adjustments as needed.
• Act as the main point of contact between internal design teams and external consultants, contractors, and clients, ensuring all parties are aligned with the project’s objectives.

• Review and ensure the accuracy, clarity, and completeness of design documents produced in Revit, including floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules.
• Conduct regular quality control checks throughout the design process to ensure compliance with design intent, industry standards, and project specifications.
• Ensure all project documentation is produced in compliance with local building codes, regulations, and client requirements.
• Maintain detailed project records, including design revisions, meeting notes, and project schedules.

• Encourage and integrate sustainable design practices into the architectural design process, aligning with industry best practices and client sustainability goals.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Revit features, architectural trends, and emerging technologies to continually improve the design and delivery process.
• Implement innovative design strategies and solutions that push creative boundaries while meeting technical and budget constraints.

• Advanced proficiency in Revit (must have experience with Revit Architecture and MEP integration).
• Proficient in other design and graphics software, including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.), and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong understanding of BIM methodologies and project delivery processes.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex design concepts clearly to clients and team members.
• Strong organizational and leadership abilities, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of sustainable design principles and green building standards (LEED, BREEAM, etc.) is a plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with strong interpersonal skills.

• Architectural licensure (AIA, RA, or equivalent) is preferred but not required.
• Experience with additional BIM software tools (Navisworks, BIM 360, etc.) is a plus.
• Experience in large-scale, high-profile projects.
