Position Title : Associate Director / Director, Human Resources Reporting To : Senior Management / Vice Chancellor The Director of Human Resources is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic direction and operational excellence of the university's HR functions. Reporting directly to Senior Management or the Vice Chancellor, this position provides vision, leadership, and guidance to support the university's mission, ensuring a positive and inclusive work environment. The Director oversees all aspects of HR, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, performance management, organizational development, and diversity initiatives. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the university's mission and long-term goals.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the Vice Chancellor and Senior Management on HR-related matters.
- Drive initiatives that foster an inclusive, high-performing, and engaged workforce.
- Identify and execute opportunities for operational efficiency and innovation within the HR function.
- Oversee recruitment and retention strategies to attract diverse and exceptional talent.
- Lead workforce planning, including succession planning and organizational design.
- Implement and manage comprehensive onboarding, training, and professional development programs.
- Act as a trusted resource for leadership, faculty, and staff on complex employee relations issues.
- Oversee conflict resolution processes, disciplinary actions, and grievance management.
- Foster a culture of employee engagement, wellness, and recognition.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws, regulations, and university policies.
- Stay updated on changes in HR legislation and implement necessary adjustments.
- Develop and maintain risk mitigation strategies for HR operations.
- Champion DEI efforts across the university and integrate DEI principles into all HR practices.
- Develop training programs and initiatives to promote diversity and cultural competence.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to create an equitable and inclusive workplace.
- Oversee the management and optimization of HR systems, data, and analytics.
- Manage HR budgets and vendor relationships effectively.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities for the HR team.
- Bachelor’s & Master's degree in Human Resources, or a related field
- At least 15 years of progressive HR experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience in higher education or similarly complex organisations is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and compliance standards.
- Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships across diverse groups of stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion.
