The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant at the Psychology and Child & Human Development (PCHD) Department. Project Title: The Mental Health and Academic Competence of Singapore Students in High-Achieving Girls’ Schools: A Multi-Informant, Longitudinal Study Project Introduction: The project aims to enhance our understanding of (1) how socio-contextual factors inherent in high-achieving school environments contribute to the pressures experienced by their students, (2) whom these pressures impact the most; and (3) how we can optimize the mental health of these youth in the Singapore context. The research assistant will have the opportunity to (1) engage in education and mental health-related research; and (2) gain valuable research experience in a large-scale school-based project using mixed methodologies. Requirements: Bachelor Degree in Psychology, or related field. Candidates with a Master’s Degree may be considered for a Research Associate position. Excellent English writing and communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented, self-starter with good organization skills. Experience in implementing qualitative and quantitative research methods. Proficiency in a statistical package (e.g., SPSS, R, Jamovi) preferred. Prior research experience in the mental health or education field is preferred. Responsibilities: Coordinate the research project (i.e., manage and oversee various aspects of the project – including study logistics and administration – to ensure smooth operation and adherence to study protocols). Recruit, screen, and track study participants. Administer assessments and conduct semi-structured interviews. Assist with transcription, qualitative and quantitative data cleaning, coding, and analysis. Contribute to the writing and preparation of research reports, manuscripts, and presentations. Manage other research assistants and students assisting with the project. Assist principal investigator with other relevant research tasks (e.g., literature searches, IRB application, grant writing, etc.). Other duties as assigned by PI/Head.
