The Regional Business Development Manager Buildings & Cities acts as the first line of management, directing business development activities to source relationships with clients and key decision makers to develop business opportunities for a new sector, product, service, solution or client. This position is responsible for the development and management of new business opportunities, improving hit and capture rates and strengthening client relationships as well as assisting in the delivery of projects either from a project management or engineering perspective. With demonstrated experience and commercial acumen, you will play a key role in:

  • Determine the overall direction of new business opportunities and provide leadership in client relationship management (CRM).
  • Analyse trends in the national P&E market and make recommendations.
  • Deliver on business development opportunities.
  • Be integral to the delivery of projects.
  • Develop and maintain an independent view of all markets and major clients in which the business operates for business planning, client relationship management, business development and other significant market transactions.
  • Ensure business relationships comply with all regulatory and legal requirements.
With a track record of achievement in a related role, you ideally will have gained your experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work. You will have demonstrated ability to consistently:
  • Build, establish and maintain excellent relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Identify and develop business opportunities for new sectors, products, services, solutions and clients.
  • Effectively engage key stakeholders, resulting in superior strategic outcomes which meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Provide expert advice in business development.
  • Develop and implement an effective strategic relationship management process.
  • Demonstrate successful progress against growth goals in the strategic business development plan.
  • Prepare high quality complex, high level reports and successful proposals on large and significant projects.
Skills/Knowledge
  • Highly developed communication, negotiation and influencing skills within a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Excellent strategic client management and business development skills.
  • Civil Engineering and/or Project Management qualifications.
  • High level application of CRM principles.
  • Proven project management and problem solving skills.
  • Extensive understanding of the business/organisation/marketing context of business solutions.
  • Proven presentation skills and ability to engage with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
