This position is responsible for assuming responsibility for the management of activities of the Pharmacy to provide outpatient services for patients of all ages. KEY DECISIONS THE ROLE MAKES AND THE EXTENT OF THE IMPACT OF THE DECISION PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers the pharmacy functions in the ambulatory and retail pharmacy, directs daily activities of the staff and plans for efficient operation.
  • Supervises and schedules staff in assigned area.
  • Assists staff in solving operational and professional problems.
  • Interviews, selects, hires, trains, and evaluates out-patient pharmacists and technicians.
  • Checks work of staff to ensure that policies and procedures are observed, and that work meets acceptable professional standards.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with MOH and HAAD rules and regulations and with JCIA standards.
  • Ensures that record keeping meets established Pharmacy standards.
  • Liaises with medical and nursing staff to coordinate Pharmacy activities and to assist in the resolution of interdepartmental problems.
  • Solicits opinions, new ideas and recommendations from staff pharmacists and support personnel. Evaluates them and presents them to the Senior Director of Pharmacy.
  • Reviews policies and procedures, and makes revisions and recommendations as required. Ensures that a proper inventory of supplies is maintained and is responsible for annual budget preparation.
  • Ensures that computer pricing is accurate and updates pricing as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with insurance companies regulations.
  • Measures performance and achieves targets of performance indicators.
  • Generates financial report to the Senior Director of Pharmacy.
  • Forecasts yearly pharmacy objective plan and prepares pharmacy objective status report summary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy is required.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Pharmacy, or related field, is required.
Experience
  • A minimum of ten years (10) of progressive clinical practice inclusive of seven years (7) Pharmacy managerial experience.
  • Experience as a supervisor or head section is preferred.
  • Evidence of expertise in the relevant specialty is preferred.
  • Evidence of research activity is preferred.
  • Experience in a large community retail pharmacy is preferred.
Certification and Licensure
  • Current license is required.
  • Pharm D degree is preferred.
Job Specific Skills and Abilities
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to speak and write in English is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Pharmaceutical products, Therapeutic and Practice Information.
  • Knowledge of Pharmaceutical Policies, Procedures, Laws and Regulations.

ROLE LEVEL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Adheres to CCAD's standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Typical physical demands include: a high degree of manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer functions on a keyboard, produce materials on a PC and operate basic office equipment, normal or corrected vision and hearing, operate audiovisual equipment used during training programs, physically move, lift and carry training equipment and materials, mobility sufficient to visit with departments or employees throughout CCAD, stand in front of an audience for up to eight (8) hours a day and lift up to 30 lbs.
