Registrar or Principal House Officers (Internal Medicine) Internal Medicine, Medical Services Group, Townsville University Hospital Townsville Hospital and Health Service is the public healthcare provider for the government areas of Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers, Flinders, Richmond, Hinchinbrook and Palm Island. We operate 21 facilities from primary care in regional locations to highly specialised care at the main hospital. Townsville University Hospital , the largest tertiary hospital in northern Australia, provides specialist referral services for 700,000 people living in the region. Provide high quality clinical care to patients of The Townsville University Hospital. In addition, the Principal House Officer will provide supervision of junior medical staff, including some responsibility for providing teaching to junior medical staff and medical students. About the opportunity: Position: Registrar or Principal House Officer (Internal Medicine) Vacancy: Fixed Term Temporary full-time, from 03/02/2025 up to 01/02/2026. Location: Internal Medicine, Medical Service Group, Townsville University Hospital Your contributions will be valued and impactful. Requirements: Degree Qualifications from a recognised tertiary institution and hold Current Registration as a medical practitioner or eligible for Current Registration with the Medical Board of Australia. If appointee is not accepted into a recognised vocational college training program – employment will only be as a Principal House Officer and remuneration will be at the L4–L7 (PHO) level per fortnight. Upon entry into the Basic Physician Training Program via Qld Pathways, remuneration will be adjusted accordingly. Overseas applicants must have completed AMC Part 1 (Written) and AMC Part 2 (Clinical) and be eligible for General Registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Advance Life Support Certificate is desirable and will need to be completed upon appointment if not previously held. Successful completion of at least two years post-registration training. This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Probation period may apply. Pre-employment checks will be conducted. Please refer to the Role Description for further details.
